Oliver is Founder/CEO of Koa Health (www.koahealth.com), a company tackling the chronic shortage of clinicians through comprehensive, digital-first mental healthcare. Koa solutions are developed with leading clinician-academics and rigorously tested in clinical trials for the best clinical outcomes. Oliver has life-long passions for mental health and technology. With a first degree in neuroscience at Cambridge, Oliver qualified as a medical doctor (UCL) and practiced for six years with postgraduate training in psychiatry (Imperial) and public health (Johns Hopkins), plus a research fellowship at Queen Square. Convinced that only digital solutions could radically expand access to mental healthcare, Oliver spent five years in the McKinsey Health Technology Practice. In 2006, he was recruited to help build a modern healthcare system in the UAE. He spent seven years as Director of Public Health, putting data at the heart of the new healthcare system and used that data to tackle a wide range of diseases, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, road accidents and infectious disease. Based on the successes of the approach, Oliver advises the WHO, Wellcome Trust, World Bank, and NHS England. Oliver serves on the WHO Roster of Experts for Digital Health, sits on the Board of EMPOWER, and the Wellcome Trust Expert Panel on mental health.
